Problem Or Conflict:
1. Persephone was captured by Hades and taken to the Underworld to be Hade's Queen.
2. Animals were dying because of the dead crops.
3. Demeter will not return the plants unless her daughter returns to her.
Action Sequence:
1. Persephone gets captured by Hades.
2. Demeter was so sad that all the crops, became dead.
3. Zeus commanded Hermes to get Persephone out of the Underworld, but he had to ask Persephone if she ate anything while in the Underworld.
4. Hermes found out that she ate a few seeds from a pomegranate.
5. Persephone was commanded by Zeus to, for every year, Persephone must be with Hades for one month. Then on the other months she can be with her mother.
Solution:
Zeus decided that for every seed she ate, for every year, must spend one month with Hades, but the other months with her mother.

Dog Owners Lead Healthier Lives

If you want to live a healthier life get a dog, research suggests.
The companionship offered by many pets is thought to be good for you, but the benefits of owning a dog outstrip those of cat owners, the study says.
A psychologist from Queen's University, Belfast, said dog owners tended to have lower blood pressure and cholesterol.
Writing in the British Journal of Health Psychology, she says that regular 'walkies' may partly explain the difference.
Dr Deborah Wells reviewed dozens of earlier research papers which looked at the health benefits of pet ownership.

However, her research suggested that dog ownership produced more positive influence than cat ownership.

There was also the suggestion that dogs could aid recovery from serious illnesses such as heart attacks, and act as 'early warning' to detect an approaching epileptic seizure.
Stress-busting
Dr Wells said the precise reason for the benefits was not totally clear.
"It is possible that dogs can directly promote our well-being by buffering us from stress, one of the major risk factors associated with ill-health.
"The ownership of a dog can also lead to increases in physical activity and facilitate the development of social contacts, which may enhance both physiological and psychological human health in a more indirect manner."
Dr June McNicholas, a health psychologist who has specialised on research into the health effects of pet ownership said that an important reason for the improved health of dog-owners was not just the exercise received while taking it for walks, but the opportunity for social contact with other dog-owners.
She said: "For older people, an animal can fulfil the 'need to be needed', perhaps after children have left home.
"In some cases, the social support offered by an animal is greater than the support than another human could offer."

Stars
What are stars?
Stars are hot bodies of glowing gas called Nebulae. They vary in size, mass and temperature, diameters ranging from 450x smaller to over 1,000x larger than that of the Sun. Masses range from a 20th to over 50 solar masses and surfaces temperature can range from 3,000 degrees Celcius to over 50,000 degrees Celcius.
What are they made of?
Stars are big exploding balls of gas, mostly hydrogen and helium. Our nearest Star, the Sun, is so hot that the huge amount of hydrogen is undergoing a constant Star-Wide nuclear reaction, like in a hhydrogen bomb. Even though it is constantly exploding in a nuclear reaction, the Sun and other Stars are so large and have so much matter in them that it will take billions of years for the explosion to use all the "fuel" in the star. The huge reactions taking place in stars are constantly releasing energy (called electromagnetic radiation) into the universe, which is why we can see them and find them on radio telescopes such as the ones in the DSN (Deep Space Network). Stars, including the Sun, also send out a solar wind and burst out occasional solar flares.
How is a red star different from a blue star?
The colour of a star is determined by its temperature, the hottest Stars are Blue and the coolest Stars are Red. The Sun has a surface temperarure of 5,500 degrees Celcius.
What is the first stage in the life cycle of a star?
Brown Dwarfs.
How does a large star die?
Blue Giant Stars die in a spectacular way. They grow larger just like the Sun sized Stars, but then instead of shrinking and forming a Planetary Nebula they explode in what is called a Super Nova. Super Nova explosions can be brighter than an entire Galaxy, and can be seen from very far away.
Dead Super Giant Stars and Blue Giant Stars often turn into Black Holes. A Black Hole is a very compact object. How does this happen? As the Star dies it explodes in a huge explosion called a Super Nova. The Super Nova blasts away most of the Star. Anything left begins to fall in to the middle of the Star. It gets more and more compact, and smaller and smaller. If there is enough of the Star left after the explosion, the Star will be heavy enough to squash it down to the size of an Atom, or even smaller.

Deaths rise as US storm spreads
Ice storms occur when rain falls in temperatures so low it freezes
About 30 people have now been killed in ice storms that have struck the US, mainly in central states.
A state of emergency has been declared and the National Guard called out in Missouri after the storms knocked out power to 200,000 homes.
President George W Bush has released federal aid for some affected states.
Weather forecasters say the storm system will head north-east, threatening to bring more than a foot (30cm) of snow to New England.

The extreme weather downed trees, traffic lights and power lines and blocked roads in Missouri and Oklahoma, where most of the deaths occurred.

There, about 350 national guardsmen went door-to-door to check on residents in the hardest-hit areas, and helped to clear icy roads of branches and power lines.
In Texas, 415 flights were cancelled on Sunday at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
Record-breaking cold weather even hit California, which usually has mild temperatures year-round.
Citrus fruit growers in parts of the state are using wind machines to protect their fruit from frost damage.
The National Weather Service said it was "a very, very big cold front".
It said the storm is gathering moisture from the Gulf of Mexico and cold air from the Arctic, and is expected to hit the east coast on tuesday.

US 'celebrity' whale shark dies
Ralph the whale shark, an attraction at Georgia Aquarium in the US, has died.
Ralph, one of four whale sharks in the Atlanta aquarium, had not been eating well and had been showing unusual swimming patterns.
The 22 foot long fish was only "a teenager", and the cause of his death was not immediately known.
Ralph arrived at the aquarium in 2005 from Taiwan, where he had faced becoming seafood.
The aquarium, said to be the world's largest, houses more than 100,000 specimens. Whale sharks are the world's largest fish, growing up to 50ft long.
