Paleontologists announced the discovery of a large number of dinosaur fossils in a remote section of northeast China. One of the fossils was of an animal with what appear to be primitive feathers. The new dinosaur was named Sinosauropteryx prima. The find adds to the theory put forward by some scientists that birds evolved from dinosaurs. Later finds at the same site included other fossils with with more feather-like projections.
