Today in History; Cloning of Dolly Announced
Dolly was the first mammal to have been successfully cloned from an adult cell at the Roslin Institute in Scotland. The technique used places the nucleus from one of the donor's non-reproductive cells into a de-nucleated embryonic cell. This is called somatic cell nuclear transfer. The controversy about cloning still continues today.
